Please follow the directions below to ensure proper target detonation. You must mix and use our targets at the range. Do not use the targets at an indoor range. You cannot transport a mixed target. If you do, you are in violation of Federal laws prohibiting the transportation of explosives. You cannot store a mixed target, so whatever amount you mix, you must use it that same day. Do not use the target powder in PVC pipe, Metal pipe, Glass containers, or any other object that produces heavy shrapnel. If you do you WILL be charged with manufacturing a bomb. DON'T TAKE THE TARGETS ON AN AIRPLANE AT ALL! YOU WILL BE ARRESTED! Don't say you didn't know or you were not warned. If you have any questions, please ask before purchasing our targets.

READ AND FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS POUR ALL THE WHITE INTO THE GRAY. CLOSE BAG AND MIX UNTIL UNIFORMLY GRAY. THE POWDER IS NOW READY. YOU MUST USE YOUR TARGET THE DAY YOU MIX IT. YOU CANNOT STORE OR TRANSPORT A MIXED TARET. DO NOT USE PVC PIPE, METAL PIPE OR GLASS CONTAINERS FOR YOUR TARGET. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL BE CHARGED WITH MANUFACTURING A BOMB / WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION. THE CONTAINERS YOU USE MUST BE 100% CLEAN AND DRY. MOISTURE MAKES THE TARGET INERT. (WILL NOT WORK) YOU MUST SHOOT THE TARGET WITH A CENTERFIRE RIFLE .223 OR LARGER. DO NOT USE POLYMER TIPPED BULLETS. THEY MAY NOT DETONATE THE TARGET. THE BULLET MUST BE MOVING A MINIMUM OF 2200 FPS WHEN IT STRIKES THE TARGET. PISTOLS, SHOTGUNS & RIMFIRES DO NOT WORK. STAND AT LEAST 75 YARDS AWAY FROM TARGET. Hesitant at first to spend 10 bucks for a quick little boom, but after me and my buddy bought one a piece at the local gun store I was amazed. It definitely puts a smile on your face. I liked it enough to order a 10 pack. It's great to be hanging out with some friends and say hey watch this. The reactions will be discussed for a while. From what I've seen and heard, this is for sure the best reactive target out there.

We have shot some of the Sure Shot exploding targets, and find the Southern Thunder to be better all around. We have to pick up pieces of plastic after a Sure Shot, but somehow the Southern Thunder cardboard box has always completely disintegrated. Each box of Southern Thunder contains a small bag of aluminum powder and a bag of ammonium nitrate which seems to be ground into a very fine powder instead of the normal BB looking stuff used by others, and it mixes very easily. This stuff is truly ground shaking! We seem to be some of the first in our rural area to try these, and we've heard second hand of people thinking our explosions were either stills or meth labs blowing up.
The exploding targets are a blast with everybody coming out to the ranch. Highly recommended.
DownSouthAmmo shipped these out pronto and made it just in time for a trip out to public BLM land in Colorado. Short story is that the county sheriff showed up with his posse and tried to charge me with a Class IV Felony. Make sure you're up to speed on the laws in your region - these guys weren't. Before the sheriff showed up, we had a blast!
This was my 3rd or 4th time ordering this product from DownSouthAmmo. Love it!! Have purchased other comparable products from gun shows and have learned that not all exploding target powder mixes are the same... Downsouthammo has been the best-by-far..
If you really want to take kids out and have them learn about shooting, there is no better way then to let them shoot Southern Thunder. My son and his friends love shooting this because of the immediate response they get from hitting the bulls eye on the target. I wish this was around when I was a kid. Something that does not burn or explode when dropped. Only ignites when you shoot it in the correct spot. You don't need a lot to make it fun and cost effective. I would recommend this to anyone looking to take kids out and have a safe fun time with shooting guns. Do your research and see how it works and you will be amazed at this product.
I used these with my father-in-law and the shockwave from 75 yards was most impressive. Already ordered 20 more.
